Safety Assessment Program (SAP) Workshop

Class Synopsis:

The Safety Assessment Program (SAP) utilizes volunteers and mutual aid resources to provide professional engineers and architects and certified building inspectors to assist local governments in safety evaluation of their built environment in the aftermath of a disaster. The program is managed by Cal OES, with cooperation from professional organizations. SAP produces two resources: SAP Evaluators, described above, and SAP Coordinators, which are local government representatives that coordinate the program

Instructor:

Nancy Springer is currently Chief Building Official of Sacramento County. She is serving a 3 year term as a Governor Brown appointee to the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) as the Board’s Building Official representative.

She is active in ICC Chapters having served as County Building Officials Association of California (CBOAC) Chapter President (2014) and on the Board of Directors (2012/2017/2019) for Sacramento Valley Association of Building Officials (SVABO)

Nancy maintains her California SAP: ATC 20 Post Disaster Certification as a SAP Coordinator and served in the roles of Situation Status, Plans Intel Chief and Damage Assessment Unit Leader with an Emergency Operation Center (EOC). Nancy has worked the following types of disasters: earthquake, high wind, wildfires and drought. Some disasters she has been involved include: the Cascade and Camp Wilders and the Oroville Dam event. She has completed ICS courses, 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800.

Nancy was recently selected to serve on a two-year advisory group that will write a guidebook preparing for disasters: HUD Residential Resilience Guidelines.
