County of San Mateo

Supervising Code Compliance Officer

Salary: $5,481 - $6,852 per month

The Supervising Code Compliance Officer is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and directing the staff and operations of the Code Compliance Unit of the Planning and Building Department. In addition, you’ll conduct field investigations and enforce planning and zoning regulations, and other related codes and ordinances. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in code compliance in a public service setting, including a minimum of one year in an advanced journey level or leadwork position. Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is two years of experience in a position involving policy or procedural compliance in a public service atmosphere. BUILDING INSPECTOR II

Salary: $56,172 - $68,580 annually, with excellent benefits, including CalPERS retirement (2.7% at 55)

Seeking qualified applicant to perform journey level plan review and inspections of commercial and residential building projects for conformance with proper design and applicable codes and regulations; accept and review building permit applications and issues permits; enforce zoning codes and ordinances; and provide information and assistance to the public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience that will provide the ability to perform the work and provide the performance results as stated above. A typical way of obtaining the essential knowledge and abilities would be:

EDUCATION: Completion of 21 units of college level courses in building inspection, construction, or other related areas. NOTE: One (1) year of experience performing duties as a professional Building Inspector or Plans Examiner may be substituted for the education requirement.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience performing building inspections or plans review work within one or more inspection disciplines for a governmental jurisdiction with responsibility for enforcement of the California Title 24 building codes and accessibility requirements. Inspection or plan review experience in both residential and commercial construction is desirable.

PERMIT CENTER MANAGER

Salary: $104,269 - $126,741 Annually

City of Milpitas seeking Permit Center Manager, responsible for Permit Center operations ensuring proper coordination of all applications received; providing timely service to all customers; ensuring collection of fees; performing plan examinations to insure compliance with technical codes, applicable laws, and ordinances. Required: BS degree from an accredited school with major in civil or structural engineering or architecture; four years responsible experience as supervising inspector, supervising plan check engineer, or other management position related to building permit/plan check applications; Architect license or registration as a professional civil or structural engineer in California; and ICC Plans Examiner Certificate. BUILDING PERMIT TECHNICIAN

Salary: $59,532 - $72,362 annually

The City of Milpitas is seeking a Building Permit Technician. This position is responsible for providing technical and clerical support in the processing, plan checking, and record keeping functions related to the issuance of building / construction, planning, and public works permits. Ideal candidate should have two years of progressively responsible building construction or related experience. Minimum requirement is a High school diploma or equivalent. College level coursework in engineering or architecture is highly desirable.
