Means of Egress (2013 CBC and CFC)

Synopsis: This course discusses the design and inspection of means of egress in commercial buildings. The course covers the requirements in the 2013 California Building and Fire Codes. This means of egress course covers determining occupant load, means of egress capacity, number of exits, the need for fire-resistance-rated construction, exit and exit access doors and door hardware, separation of exits and exit access doors, exit access travel distance, common path of egress, when can a person egress through adjoining spaces, exit signs, egress illumination, stairways and horizontal exits. Make sure to bring your 2013 California Building Code and your questions. This course is excellent for designers, architects, plan reviewers, building and fire code inspectors.
LUIHSW units are available as Learning Units for AIA. ICC CEUs will be provided.
INSTRUCTOR – KEVIN SCOTT - Kevin Scott is President of KH Scott & Associates LLC. He served the Kern County Fire Department, CA. for 30 years in several different capacities, retiring at the position of Deputy Chief. He has been actively involved in code development since 1988. He participated on the Drafting Committee of the International Fire Code, and served on the Code Development Committee for the International Fire Code from 1998 until 2004 when he was elected to the Board of Directors for the International Code Council. Mr. Scott has developed several training manuals and trainings programs for code enforcers and designers. Mr. Scott has developed and provided training for the CSFM, ICBO, IFCI, CALBO, CaFPOs, AIA and SFPE, and is a certified Preferred Provider for ICC. Mr. Scott is a member of ICC, IAFC, NFPA, IFMA, and SFPE and has authored several publications on the International Codes.
